In Russia commonly used dressings are mayonnaise, crème fraiche and vegetable oil. There are so many types of salad that I am sure everyone can find their favourite. I have divided them into 3 main categories:

Vegetables Pancakes side dish recipes came from Russia, from my childhood. When I was much younger I really liked Zucchini pancakes with homemade creme fraiche and herbs as a mid-afternoon snack. In my family we had them regularly during the summer season. In the “old Russian version” we added white flour to make the pancakes. Of course, nowadays, I have learned how bad flour is for our bodies and use only nut flour.

Blanched and Steamed Vegetables

These Blanched and Steamed Vegetables side dish recipes are two of the most beneficial ways to cook vegetables. It is believed that it will save up to 80% of goodness in comparison with 30% when boiling.

I personally prefer blanching. It takes a little bit longer and is more complicated than steaming, but salty water adds extra taste to the vegetables and their keep bright colours better.
